ARE YOU A TITLE 11, 18 OR 19 FIRE DEPARTMENT?. Title 11 are town/city fire departments, Title 18 departments are those that are incorporated as non profits to provide fire service. Fire protection services established pursuant to the provisions of Section 351 of Title 19 of the Oklahoma Statutes. Fire protection districts organized and operated pursuant to the provisions of Sections 901.1 through 901.29 of Title 19 of the Oklahoma Statutes.
When your department became a Title 18 non profit someone filed documentation with the Oklahoma Secretary of State. To look at that filing Click here and search for yours.
Title 18 & 19 departments have bylaws or articles of incorporation. These have typically been filed away in a drawer somewhere and forgotten or not found at all. If you need help creating or changing your bylaws here is a helpful document Click here
Check your insurance and workman's compensation coverage. Insurance is free through Compsource in Oklahoma, Insurance is " typically" Risk Management/ FDIP or VFIS .
Your department has a state id number that is a designator for your fire department for documentation. Click here to find yours.
